Where a logo mosaic earns its wall space
From across the room it reads as your brand mark. Step closer and every tile is a colleague, a product shot, a launch party, the first office, the trade-fair booth that went wrong in a funny way. That double reading is the point: a vinyl logo tells visitors who you are, a logo built from your own photos tells them who did the work.
- Company anniversaries: ten years of photos in one piece, unveiled at the party. Everyone in the room is somewhere in it.
- Reception and meeting rooms: brand art that people walk up to, looking for faces they know.
- Farewells and retirements: the logo, or a portrait of the person leaving, built from what every department sends in — see retirement gift mosaics.
- Milestones: a funding round, a product launch, employee number 100, a move to a new building.
- Year-end: leftover budget and a year worth showing — timing and invoicing for December are on the corporate Christmas page.
Will our logo work? A five-minute check before you upload
A mosaic draws your logo with photos instead of ink, so fine detail has limits. The grid has roughly 4,800 tile positions, about 80 across and 60 down on a 4:3 print. On a 60 × 45 cm print each tile is about 7.5 mm wide; at 120 × 90 cm it is about 1.5 cm. Any line in the logo thinner than two tiles (about 2.5% of the logo's width) breaks up into single photos and stops reading as a line.
- Look at it in greyscale. Tiles are real photos with their own colours, so a logo reads mostly through light against dark. Two brand colours of similar brightness, such as a mid red on a mid blue, can merge. If the logo still reads in black and white, it will read as a mosaic.
- Thin wordmarks: use the symbol on its own, a bold or stacked version, or set the wordmark large on a plain field with a generous margin.
- The background is part of the picture. A flat background becomes a large field of tiles, and that is where most of your team photos will be seen. Bright daytime photos suit a light field; evening events and stage shots suit a dark one.
- File: a PNG or JPG at least 2,000 px wide. If you only have an SVG or a PDF, export it to PNG first.
- Not sure? Run the free preview with the photos you already have. You can zoom into every tile and swap the main image before anyone approves a budget.
Collecting photos from the whole team
The photos that make a team mosaic worth looking at are on forty different phones. Instead of a shared drive and three reminder emails, start a photo collection: you get a link and a QR code to post in Slack or Teams, add to the newsletter or pin next to the coffee machine. Colleagues open it on their phone, type their name and pick photos, with no account and no app.
- You approve every photo before it goes in, or switch on automatic approval. You see who sent what and can reject anything.
- Capacity: a collection holds up to 500 photos and the mosaic uses up to 300 of the approved ones. Set a deadline, and if photos arrive late, build again.
- People who would rather not appear: reject their photos, and say in the invitation that taking part is optional. Office, product and event shots without faces work well as tiles too.
- How many: no hard minimum — the preview asks for 30, 100+ gives the richest result, up to 300. A team of 30 that sends five photos each gets you to the sweet spot.
Sizes, materials and prices
Prints are made by a professional photo lab (WhiteWall in the EU) and delivered in usually 5–12 working days, depending on product and country. For an office piece before the holidays, order the print by 5 December.
- Aluminium dibond (matte, rigid, hangs flat; the usual office choice): 60 × 45 cm €199, 80 × 60 cm €299, 120 × 90 cm €549.
- Acrylic glass for receptions, with deeper colour behind a glossy face: from €199, 80 × 60 cm €499.
- Canvas from €79 for a softer look; fine-art paper from €39 if you have your own frame.
- Square logos: the largest square is 100 × 100 cm (€459 on aluminium). All sizes and materials are on print options.
- File only: from €9.95, a print-ready JPG at the size you choose, for your own print partner. Every print order includes the file as well.
Invoices, larger formats and bulk orders
Shop orders are paid by card or PayPal and come with a receipt. If your accounts team needs an invoice with your company details and VAT, if the wall is larger than 120 cm, or if you want several prints for several offices, a multi-panel piece or a file spec for your own printer, use the large formats and special requests form. It asks for size, material, rough photo count and deadline, and you get a price and timing within one business day. You can also email getmoza@getmoza.com with your logo and headcount.
Building mosaics into your own product, for example a memory wall for an event platform, is a different arrangement: see the photo mosaic API.
Five finishes. Every print includes the digital file.
You choose the finish after you have seen your preview. Prices are for the smallest portrait or landscape size; square prints start at 40 × 40 cm.
Frequently asked questions
Which logos work best as a photo mosaic?
Bold shapes with strong light-dark contrast. On a 4:3 print the grid is about 80 tiles across, so lines thinner than two tiles (about 2.5% of the logo's width) break up. Check the logo in greyscale: if it still reads, it will work. For thin wordmarks, use the symbol alone or a bold version.
How do we collect photos from the whole team?
Start a photo collection at getmoza.com/collect and share the link or QR code internally. Colleagues upload from their phones without an account, you approve each photo, and the mosaic is built from up to 300 approved photos.
Can we get an invoice with VAT?
Yes. Shop orders come with a receipt. For an invoice with your company details and VAT, bulk orders or several offices, use the large formats form at getmoza.com/custom or email getmoza@getmoza.com; you get a price and timing within one business day.
What sizes can we order?
In the shop, from 40 × 30 cm up to 120 × 90 cm (4:3) and 100 × 100 cm (square), on fine-art paper, canvas, aluminium, acrylic glass or in a gallery frame. Larger walls and multi-panel pieces are quoted through the special requests form.
How many photos do we need?
no hard minimum — the preview asks for 30, 100+ gives the richest result, up to 300. A mix of events, office life, products and people gives the most varied tiles.
What if some colleagues don't want to be in it?
Every photo waits for the organiser's approval unless you switch that off, so you can leave anyone out. Photos of products, the office and events without faces work well as tiles.
What is a photo mosaic?
A photo mosaic is an image made up of many smaller photos (tiles). When you step back, the tiles form a larger picture. Each tile is one of your own photos, making it deeply personal.
Will my individual photos still be visible?
Yes. We place every tile at full strength with true colour-matching, so your photos stay sharp and recognisable up close — a real photo mosaic, with no tinted overlay laid on top. Zoom right into the free preview and see the individual photos before you buy.
Can I order a canvas, framed or acrylic print?
Yes. Fine-art paper from €39, canvas from €79, aluminium Dibond from €109, acrylic glass from €199 and gallery frames from €315, in sizes from 30 × 40 up to 120 × 90 cm. Prints are made by a professional photo lab and shipped to 30+ countries, and every print includes the digital file.
How many photos do I need?
You can create a mosaic from as little as one photo, and the more you add, the more detailed it gets: 30 photos for a free preview, 100+ for the best detail, up to 300.
What file do I get?
A print-ready JPG at the print size you choose — for example 4,724 × 3,543 pixels for 40 × 30 cm or 7,087 × 7,087 pixels for 60 × 60 cm. Standard is €9.95; High-res (€29.95) and Ultra (€49.95) render the same mosaic about 1.5× and 2× larger. The download link is emailed as soon as the file is rendered.
How much does a photo mosaic cost?
The preview is free. Digital files cost €9.95, €29.95 or €49.95 depending on resolution. Prints start at €39 for a 40 × 30 cm fine-art paper print and €79 for canvas, and every print includes the digital file.
Can I print it myself?
Yes. The file is print-ready at the size you chose, so any local print shop or online photo lab can print it at that size or smaller.
Is the preview free?
Yes. Building and previewing your mosaic is free, with no account and no email needed, and you can zoom into every tile. You only pay if you download the file or order a print.
Is getmoza safe? Who runs it and how does payment work?
